Left Detroit and crossed the border into Canada. We could not believe our eyes at some of the names.....we looked around London, saw the River Thames, shopped at Covent Garden, drove along Kensington Bridge.
Saturday 24 August
Today was the day I had been waiting for. I finally got to see my brother Martin (after 6 years) and Andy who I haven't seen in 6 months. Martin retired only a couple of days before he arrived in Toronto so his head was still spinning. After a quick hug we introduced him to the RV and raced him across town to watch Andy play AFL.
The weather was horrendous. We all marched onto the field in torrential rain to cheer on the boys. His team won 47-7 so everyone was happy.
Tonight was family 'bonding' time, 4 adults sleeping in the RV, Andy perched above the driver's seat, Martin sleeping on the floor and us in our usual cosy spot. Dare I mention the nocturnal noises!
Niagara Falls
This was the most amazing sight. We spent the day at Niagara and bought tickets that included 4 main attractions. By far the best was Maids of Mist boat trip that went within 30m of the falls. We got tossed all over the place but seeing everyone dressed in their blue ponchos getting absolutely hammered with seaspray was a wonderful sight. No matter what time of the day or night the Falls look magic. At night they shine fluorescent coloured lights on it and then hold a 20 minute fireworks display over the water.
After 3 wonderful days it was time for Andy to head back home to Toronto. When we arrived he gave us a guided tour of his basement flat, I was very impressed, it was spotless!! And even more impressed with the much loved vegetable garden. Top marks to Andy and his friend Strawbs for their efforts.
Niagara Falls looks wonderful!
